Two videos from Coldplay

Hype William's version

Coldplay revealed this week not one but two videos for the title track of their new album, Viva La Vida. Legendary Hip Hop/Rap video director, Hype Williams directed the first video. The band stuck with the motif they showcased in their iTunes commercial.

The second video, directed by Anton Corbijn (Heart-Shaped Box and Control visionary), has Chris Martin as a king, walking around with a framed copy of Delacroix Liberty Leading the People (Viva LaVida album cover) tucked under his arm.

Project staff weekly obsession: Coldplay

This week, Christina is loving the new Coldplay CD entitled Viva La Vida, or long live life. Inspired by a Frida Kahlo painting, some of the album, which was recorded in churches in Spain and Latin America, is full of religious references. The song "Life in Technicolor" introduces a Persian santur into the orchestration, commonly used in the traditional music of Iraq and Iran, as well as steel guitars and long instrumental soundscapes.

You can listen to the entire CD at www.iheartmusic.com or you can download the CD at itunes.
