I don't wanna grow up....

Lego's as furniture? That's the whole idea behind LunaBlocks, created by architects Philippe Landecker and Thierry Nashon of Lunatic Construction. The big bricks come in multiple colors and materials that are easily stacked together. Add a pane of glass or a pillow, and you've got fully functional furniture.

LunaBlocks come in a number of types: your basic LunaBlock; LunaGlass, which are opaque and transparent blocks; LunaSoft, blocks made of durable polypropylene meant for kids; LunaLight, pillow-like material that's used to create comfortable seating; and LunaMetal, blocks cast in steel.

You can buy the bricks online from Homology. The prices don't seem so bad — they range from $20 to $55. Perfect! Now we can create our very own Lego-land!!!

Spotlight: Karl Lagerfeld

Karl Lagerfeld is one of the most recognizable fashion designers in the world. Twice a year, he presents four new collections: Chanel couture; a month later, ready-to-wear for Fendi; Chanel; and his own Karl Lagerfeld label. Each collection has its own, distinct look that shows us that Mr. Lagerfeld is someone with an endless source of ideas. In the few days before a show, Lagerfeld manages to oversee the goings-on of his presentations while meeting the demands of the fashion press and his celebrity followers.

Please enjoy these photos taken by Photographer Christopher Anderson. They will give you a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes for one of Mr Lagerfeld's many shows.

Amanda Harlech, Lagerfeld’s muse at Chanel, goes through the Polaroid marked-up notes for each of the show’s looks.

Lagerfeld’s quickly sketched notes on an inspiration board. Here, on a photo of the founder, he writes, “I’d like to copy these necklaces.”

After the show, a quick hug and kiss from the Olsens, who were in the front row.

Here comes the Bride....

It is wedding season, and some of us may have 1, 2, maybe 4 weddings to attend this year, but nothing to wear. It just so happens that we have what you need. Cute, sexy dresses may take the attention away from the bride, if you want to. Joking!

For an outdoor wedding, our adjustable spaghetti strap dresses will be perfect.

For an indoor church wedding, a 3/4 sleeve dress in a rich vibrant color should work.

Stop by our stores and start shopping for the dresses that may have the bride asking you, "where did you get that dress?"

Work it out...

adidas by Stella McCartney

Athletes today want to be fashionable without having to look completely athletic while doing their sports activities.
Nike started off as a maker of athletic shoes in the 1960s and then branched out into shoes and clothes for athletes and those who wanted to dress like athletes.

In the last few years, with a number of collaborations, we have seen many sports brands create new product lines with fashion designers. Everyone wants to be seen as trendy or having an “edgy” look, so active sports leading brands are reaching out to established designers.

Now that everyone is running after collector's items or limited edition activewear, fashion/sport marriages are turning these opportunities into new brands for a specific customer.

A pink one please...

Peter Gronquist has turned Gallery 1988 into a blinged-out armory for his solo, The Revolution will be Fabulous. Everything is going 'designer' these days: toys, iPod covers, stationery, furniture, vibrators, you name it. Add weapons to that list.

Peter has taken replicas of non-operative rifles and chain saws and given them over-the-top, blinged-out treatments, complete with well-known fashion monikers. Louis Vuitton chain saw, anyone ? Or what about a rifle with a faux Takashi Murakami smiling flower pattern?

Now we can protect ourselves and look cute and blinged-out doing so.

Pharrell Williams and The Love Chair.

Pharrell Williams, the front man for N.E.R.D., got together with Domeau & Peres to design the perspective chair. The chair's design was inspired by the "relationship" between a man and a woman. The chair will be part of a show in Paris at the Emmanuel Perrotin Galerie. The show will be from October 21, 2008 to January 10, 2009. It will be available in a few colors and only 4 of each color will be sold.

According to Pharrell, the chair is supposed to represent the love between a woman and a man. It is a good representation of love, but I see it as a form of lust. It is up to you how you will perceive it. It is an interesting way to design a chair though, a man's legs behind a woman's. So what's your perspective on it?

Yves Saint Laurent: 1936-2008

Yves Saint Laurent first made a massive impression on the fashion world in 1958 when he became the successor to Christian Dior and enjoyed instant success with his Trapeze collection, before beginning his own label in 1962.

Yves Saint Laurent's long and fruitful career came to an end in 2002 and was most recognized for turning women's fashion around, making pants the core of women's fashion along with pea coats, safari jackets (not to forget “le smoking," a French term for a man’s tuxedo jacket), leopard prints, and trench coats, to mention a few fashions which transcended the world of style. The names to adorn the 'YSL' initials roll off your tongue with the likes of Catherine Deneuve, Bianca Jagger, Helmut NewtonMarie-Hélène de Rothschild amongst them. May the legend of Yves Saint Laurent live on.
Read much more over at the NY Times website, and I am sure many others will be paying tribute to this legend of style and fashion today.
